Designing Your Companion
Welcome to the companion design guide; your ticket to designing one of the six companion species that accompany the many residents of Willanova!
Before starting, please note:
All companions have a feral orientation! However, to avoid the extra update, you may get your companion's MYO linked with an already existing Willow ahead of time and skip the extra step!
Physical Traits
Contrary to Willows, each companion species has their own MYO, which can be purchased for Amcorns from Gano's Pet Shoppe. Instead of having different rarities of specified traits, there is a set list of general, required traits. For example, if a companion species requires wings, the wings can be any shapes or type; design to your heart's content!
You can use any body types and expressions/poses for your companion! Express them however you'd like.
Species & Chymos
Chymos is the most important substance to any creature in Willanova. Each companion species has their own distribution of Chymos across their body. Additionally, each species has their own set of required phyiscal traits that make them, them!
With chymos, there is a set number of colors you can choose when designing, as chymos only reflects certain colors of light. Chymojewels are also shaped depending on two different factors:
- If a companion does not have a Willow owner, they will possess the default acorn shape.
- Unbound MYOs will only be processed by staff if they have acorn shaped jewels and bark colors. To avoid the extra update, please bind them ahead of time with a Willow.
- However, once adopted, it's shape will match that of the adoptee! But, make sure you follow our guidelines when it comes to image on our website.
Furthermore, unlike their Willow counterparts, companion chymojewels are embedded into their bodies! Due to how little visible chymos they have, so this ensures they've got enough!
Additionally, you can use any chymos textures you'd like on companions! There is no limit to which kind or how many you use, as they are untraited. This does not apply to a binded Willow.

Chymos Color
Companions start out with one chymos color, which can be from the Bark Colors category! Additional colors from all brackets, as well as patterns can be added as long as your linked Willow has them.
Colors CANNOT be added from Root Colors, Canopy Colors, or Stripped Colors categories, unless they are linked to a Willow! This is because companions do not have enough chymos in their bodies to manifest a wide color range like Willows can, without a Willow by their side.
Finishing Touches
Free to Add:
- Extras Chymos Details: You can shading and highlights to your chymos that are not directly on any sliders, as long as they do not look like patterns! See Willow Design Basics for more information.
- Body/Fur Markings: Companions can have as many markings or colors as you want, in any shape!
- Colored Lineart: As long as everything is visible, we encourage you to color your lineart!
- Accessories: Ribbons, collars, prosthetics, you name it.
Please Do Not:
- Give companions a full outfit.
- We want to see their full design!
- Add items other than handheld gear.
Applying Willow Traits to your Companion
Yes! That's right! If your Companion has a linked Willow, you can apply SOME of the Willow's traits to them. This can be done by using a Soulful Touch-Up item!
In general, any of the Willow's traits applied to your companion needs to account for the Companion's requirements.
Things that can be applied:
- Oddities
- Mutations
- Condemnations, Blessings
Things that CANNOT be applied:
- Nose, tail, or limb-length/look altering traits (except for Multiple Tails)
- Horn traits
- Ears traits (except for Double Ears)
Do NOT submit your request before the Willow link is approved (includes MYOs). Your submission will be rejected completely and will need to be remade.
