Yep! This guide seems a littttttle long! Feel free to jump to wherever you need to be.Color Overview - Texture Overview - Guide - Items
Color Overview
All MYOs start out with Bark colors! Willows and Companions have Chymos somewhere on their body, as its their life being.
- A Willow's blood is made out of Chymos and can naturally regenerate. Scars can be either a lighter Chymos/Fleshy color, or are completely made of Chymos.
- This cannot look like large blotches of Chymos, they need to resemble scars.
- Chymos can be semi-translucent, but does not show their bones
Using Sliders
Any Willow's Chymos color[s] can be grabbed from bark unless additional items are provided.
Keep in mind, if you'd like to add more colors in the future, or have a rarer subspecies, you'd have to use an item to dip into another color category.
For example, I want to use Bark Algae for Leaf. I can't add Root Peachie later on without a Colorful Cocktail.
Chymos Color
Base Range
There's a wide range of colors that Willows have depending on their rarity and species as well! Some items provide more possibilities for Willows to decorate. Chymos patterns, Bioluminescence, and extra colors aren't free to add for Willows, but can be added later or on approval using Cosmetic Items. Patterns can be added using a Rooibos Tea, while Bioluminescence can be added using a Matcha Tea!
On the contrary, companions can have unlimited Bark colors and patterns for free on their chymos, however other color categories cannot be added on via items. They can only achieve other color categories if they're matching a chymos color from their adoptee Willow! Additional information regarding linking a Willow and companion together, as well as companion chymos edits that can be done as a result, can be found on this prompt!
Mangrove & Arroyos: Up to 2 base colors
Acacias & Pinyons: Up to 3 base colors
You do NOT need to use all of your allowed colors when creating your Willow! For example, you're more than welcome to only use 1 base color on a Pinyon instead of all 3.
Common Terminology
Terms are used by admins to better differentiate what we're referring to in questions/approvals!
Interaction with Traits
All of this information can be found on each trait's page, however here's a little list that has interesting interactions with Chymos:
- Entirely made out of Chymos.
- Can come out of different parts of their body
- Allows bits of the tail respectively have spaces of Chymos, however cannot be completely taken over.
- Can be paired with Transparency to show their bones through!
Texture Overview
Not only do Willows and *companions come in a variety of colors, but they also have a variety of avaliable textures! A majority of Willows have one texture (with the exception of Pinyons, who naturally can have up to two due to how much chymos their bodies have), with up to three total textures (so two more are applicable) through the use of a Fluffy Croissant, purchased at Fireflies Fanclub or obtained once as a referral reward!
* Similar to colors, companions can use any textures, as well as an unlimited number of textures all for free! They do not need items to be applied.
Below is the current list of textures, by rarity! You can also find all textures by clicking here. If a texture belongs to a specific subspecies within a rarity, it will be labelled with the subspecies's name next to it.
- Common
- Uncommon
- Rare
- Unique
Depending on a Willow's subspecies, certain rarities of traits may be at lower tiers! For example, Extrusions are a uniquely traited texture, meaning you'd need a Unirbal Tea to apply it to an existing Willow or lower rarity MYO. However, if the Willow is an Acacia Willow, it becomes an uncommon rarity for that specific subspecies, as seen here! You can instead apply it with only an Uncumber Tea, or by having an Uncommon MYO.
Furthermore, there are different parts of a Willow's body that are always made of chymos or OPTIONALLY can be! Futhermore, certain parts are optional when it comes to whether they need to display the main body chymos texture of their body or not, meaning you can choose for them to either be the Willow's texture, or show as Smooth (this would NOT count as having 2 textures).
The following traits can be optionally chymos across ALL Willow subspecies (unless a specified trait to particular subspecies), and DO NOT need to display the main body texture of a Willow:
- Tongue
- Teeth
- Claws
- Scars
- Paw Pads (can also mimic the shape of a Willow's chymojewel as well; you do NOT need the Multiple Chymojewels trait for this)
- Chymojewels
- Hooves (Siberians and Pinyons)
- Tusks (Siberians)
- Fins (Mangroves)
- Slits/Gills/Vents trait
- Frills trait
- Spines trait
- Frills trait
The following traits always chymos or can be chymos, but are CONDITIONAL about if they need to display the main body texture of a Willow. However, any other textures not listed here MUST be displayed like the main body's texture.
- Horns (always chymos): If a Willow has the Smooth or Furred/Fluffy (Siberians) texture, then their horns can display those textures, or look like either visual on to the right.
- Inner ears (optionally chymos): If a Willow has the Smooth, Furred/Fluffy (Siberians), or Extrusions texture, then their ears can display those textures, or look like either visual to the right.
Finally, any main body parts of a Willow subspecies must ALWAYS be displayed as the main body texture of a Willow:
- Legs (always chymos for all subspecies except Siberians)
- Chest chymos (Siberians, always chymos)
- Croaker (Mangroves, always chymos)
- Scaled underbelly (Acacias, optionally chymos - if made of chymos, must be either the Plated or Scaled texture)
- Party Whiskers trait (always chymos)
- Unique Formation Tails trait (if the tail design of choice has chymos in it)
-
Strange Chymos Formation trait (always chymos)
Character Usage and Guide
Here is step by step directions for applying Chymos to your character.
1. Base
We picked Bark Algae from the Vibrant Flora bracket. We have to use bark since we don't have any items to apply.
2, [Free] Optional Gradient
Any subspecies can have a blended out gradient that is across their Chymos, taken from the same slider.
3. Adding Colors
For species with free colors, extra colors can be taken from anything in their color category. They can be added as gradients OR large parts of their body in different colors. Willows can have up to 5 different colors from two different color categories.
4a. Adding Patterns
When adding patterns alone without extra colors, they will need to be grabbed from: the same slider, lighter from the base, or slightly darker. Additional items can be used to grab from the same bracket or color category.
4b. Adding Patterns AND Colors
Here is patterns added using a while also using a Pigment Vial to add a Rooibos Tea color from the Bark Lake slider.
5. Shading/Highlights (opt.)
As long as it doesn't look like patterns, any shading is fine! Fancy fancy!
Item Usage
Here's a list of items strictly dedicated to chymos that can be used both before and after approval! All information can be found on the item's pages as well.
All items are single use.
Pigment Vial
This item only applies ONE color in the SAME color category (Bark, Root, Canopy, Stripped). It can apply (max of 5) or change a color from the same bracket/slider!
- If your Willow takes from multiple categories, you can pick one, but please specify!
Bark Peachie to Bark Cherry Blossom
Colorful Cocktail
This item only applies ONE color in the ANY color category except for stripped (Bark, Root, Canopy). It can apply (max of 5) or change a color from a different bracket/slider!
It's not recommended you use this item to apply from the same category, but it is accepted in the design queue.
Bark Peachie to Root Eggplant
Nature's Tea
This item only applies ONE color STRIPPED. It can apply (max of 5) or change a color from stripped!
It's not recommended you use this item to apply from a character with stripped, but it is accepted in the design queue.
Bark Peachie to Stripped Dusk
